Yuko vs. Yutaka
Friday, March 7th, 2008My mother should be proud: I have come to Medellin, Colombia and been blessed with my Japanese name. Enter Yuko:
Yuko is from Tokyo, Japan. She’s here chilling with the Arepaz crew for our performance today and tomorrow. Yuko means “BIG HEART” in Kanji (those Japanese symbols kid, up your knowledge).
Yuko’s face is a camera because she’s not down to be in front of the camera (she’s a photographer AND a sweets maker).
I told her she’s not doing much to help stereotypes, but that meant nothing to her. Thus, the following are my attempts to catch her off guard.
We were trying to come up with my name in Kanji and finally decided on Yutaka. Yutaka, from what she could translate, means a life in sync; unison amongst mind, heart and soul (and dropping the dope beats from Medellin to Tokyo as well).
Be on the lookout for the Yuko vs. Yutaka battle during Tokyo’s Golden week. Yes, indeed, I’ll be in the place to be (tentatively).
