Obama Is Gangsta

Monday, May 2nd, 2011

No, I’m not talking about the Osama Bin Laden kill, (although impressive) but the White House Correspondent’s dinner where he goes in on Donald Trump and FOX news. Hilarious stuff! I can’t say I agree with The President on everything, but “Let’s get back to more important things like where are Biggie and Tupac?” Out of control! My kind of president, he’s actually funny. I just wanted to end it with Bitch soo bad!!!! I love it!! The longer version is below if you want to see the entire speech.

Remember Me?

You might think I’m asking this because I haven’t blogged in a while, but no.  Moving on.

Actually, I’d like to know if you remember John McCain’s good friend, Joe the Plumber?  You know, the poster child for good ol’ regular yet republican  Americans.  Well, he’s back (not really, but kinda) with a vengeance.  He wants us all to know how he really feels about John McCain — not that good.  He even had positives for President Barack Obama.  Aahhh, when it comes around . . .  Check it out!

obama-state of the union-2010

Whomever you voted for, doesn’t matter at this time.  I just watched President Obama’s State of the Union Address.  I was working when he spoke last night (thanks for the invention of YouTube!), so that means that I got to hear a bunch of different opinions before I actually hear what The President really said.  I thought the speech was really good.  I won’t bore you with a bunch of quotes, but he did speak on some things that I feel needed to be discussed such as jobs, education affordability, and economic growth.  I hope that we can all come together and get back on the right track.

I”ll leave you all to your own opinions about change and whether or not he’s a good president.  But at the end of the day, we all have to acknowledge that we are Americans (for those of us that are) and that Barak Obama is the President of the United States.  I believe it is very important that we remember that “We don’t quit.”  The President has said “I don’t quit.”  So, “Let’s seize this moment to start anew, to carry the dream forward and to strengthen our union once more.”  Check out the speech if you missed it, it’s worth a listen.

I Can’t Quite Put My Finger On It…

Wednesday, November 5th, 2008

But there seems to be some sort of celebration going on.  This will be the most interesting Guy Fawkes Night in a long time.  Yes, all that politico-change from the movie V for Vendetta seems to be catching on…We shall see……

FREE Jay-Z Concert…

Monday, October 6th, 2008

What more can I say?

In an effort to bribe motivate people to register to vote, Obama’s offices held a “Last Chance for Change” voter registration rally with Black Brad (Sr. Carter). Wyclef opened and held it down with a number of jams and Bob Marley covers. In the interim between acts, I ran into this guy (basically because he follows me).

Hov took to the stage and it was instantly on. More singles than album cuts, but can this man go back. The energy was crazy, I mean, real-live-energy on stage, proving that though the concert was outside, the Roc was in the building.

Classic.

The pictures can show that Miami turned out in full force. Video coming soon!

MAGIC is a huge convention, way bigger than only the streetwear sections (there are actually 2 streetwear sections…..streetwear and ‘PREMIUM’ streetwear……).  Wandering around I saw men’s formal wear, every kind of hat, women’s apparel, manufacturers, corporate licenses and more.

Coming back to my neck of the woods (2nd floor, South Hall, non-premium), I was always interested to see what newer or less established brands are doing.

The thing that carried over to me the most, however, was character.

The fashion industry is known to maybe have some shallowness and egocentricity throughout, but generally the streetwear side of things is a lot more friendly and laid back.  Don’t get me wrong, it is quite obvious many of the populace of our little niche scene were not the cool kids in high school and are SERIOUSLY overcompensating for being the Screech’s of their formative years.   But many of even the well-established brands are cool, down to earth people (as evident by the number of adam bomb stickers in my possession).

Some even go beyond the fresh aesthetic and combine meaning and passion in what they do.  Take Hoodman.  Reading the name, I initially just walked by.  But upon speaking with Eddie and crew, it became quite evident that Hoodman packs a lot of punch in their designs and ideology.

The tee Eddie is wearing is inspired by The Bluest Eye.  I was like, hold up….this $%#$ reads!!  He’s also got his Obama ’08 shirt, and regardless of your political ideology, you’ve got to respect the passion behind Hoodman’s endeavors.  Cop their stuff from Digital Gravel  and local boutiques who know what’s up.
