Miami’s Gen Art Fresh Faces

Thursday, March 11th, 2010

Desktop4-1

Last night was the Opening Night of the inaugural FASHIONmiami – a four day series of shows taking place in a beautiful 30,000 sq ft permanent tent in the Design District. The runway show featured 6 womenswear designers, including two designers flying in from New York: Whitney Port and Duskin, on the 60 ft runway and installations by 3 accessory designers. Also featured were Lialia, By Smith, Fernanda Carneiro, and Romina Heighes.

Dangerously Beautiful hasn’t quite made it to Gen Art’s Fresh Faces, but can show some love to local designers that are sure to bring that Miami flavor to the world of fashion.

Let’s Talk: Gaga

Monday, February 1st, 2010

I was the last person on Earth to find out about Lady Gaga. Sure, I’d heard Poker Face sneaking about on radio, but I really don’t listen to radio like that, so I always just changed the station.  I don’t know what it was, but one day I decided to take a listen, so I downloaded both her albums and made a little Gaga playlist.

LaGa

I’m into the sounds of electro-pop as of late, so this was right up my alley: Good pop songs with clean-&-bouncy production, catchy hooks & melodies, and something that doesn’t take itself too seriously.

And oh the visuals!  Over the top was 5 miles back.  I know people can manufacture edge and flamboyance, but at least she is consistent and she does it well.  For all the talk of how she was before becoming Lady Gaga…come on now, it’s entertainment, don’t we expect some theatrics?  I think all the Twitter-ing and Facebook has put us toooooo close to some celebs.  Celebrity is larger than life, so go on, dress it up.  It beats regular joes like Jersey Shore.

From the looks of things, she’s got others in the industry trying to up their weirdo-game up as well.

What will she think of next…

Fall Hotness-Finale

Friday, October 9th, 2009

Desktop3

This will be my last post about fall for 2009.  I could probably write about 50 more, but since you are reading the Dangerously Beautiful blog, that means that you are already ahead of the game and you know what’s hot!  Whether it’s fashion, weather, scenery, or yummy pumpkin spice lattes from Starbucks, fall is my favorite season by far.

Big shoulders are back as well as the 80s neon colors for fall this year.  A strong disco-diva vibe is back in terms of sequence, leather, and graphic tees.  Shoulder pads are trying to make a come back, but I still think they make me look like a football player, so I’ll stay away from them.

If the eighties vibe isn’t your scene (don’t worry, I can’t wear it everyday either), there’s just one thing to keep in mind.  GO LARGE!  Oversize everything in the accessories department.  I’m a huge fan of chunky rings and big funky studs. The more detail the better.

Desktop4 There are some things that you can always look to have in fall every year like houndstooth and leather.  Make sure to play with colors for your leather gloves this year and maybe even experiment with some fingerless ones.  As I stated before, I live in Miami, so its more of a fashion statement.  Those of you crazy brave enough to go outside in negative 20 degree weather might not find those useful.

If your wardrobe is missing a wide belt, this is the perfect time to get one.  A wide belt  can be one of your  most verisitale accessory.  It dresses up jeans and a tee and livens up a dress or jumpsuit.  Don’t be afraid to get one in a print like yellow snake skin.  Trust me, its hot!!!

Lastly, a leather jacket is always an essential.  Usually, I prefer a nice caramel brown over black  in a jacket.  However, lately I have grown quite fond of the cropped black leather motorcycle jackets.  Exposed zippers are in and add a little bad girl to a nice polished style.

OK ladies, you have my take on fall 2009.  Time to get out there and show ‘em what you’re made of.  Don’t be afraid to try new things this year. Mix up colors, accessorize, and hold your head up high while walking in your 5 inch heals.  You’re all Dangerously Beautiful and you got it going on.  Never forget that no matter what, you are still Malicious But Delicious.

Fall Fashion Trends

Tuesday, September 8th, 2009

Louis Vuitton, Balmain, Richard Nicholl, and Louis Vuitton 2009 collections, respectively

Louis Vuitton, Balmain, Richard Nϊcholl, and Louis Vuitton 2009 collections, respectively

Fall is upon us and that means new color schemes, wardrobe choices, and makeup looks. Up first is our fall makeup series which will include three trends to keep you looking dangerously beautiful: Bold Lips, Contouring, & The Dark Smokey Eye.

Of course makeup is a form of expression so do what’s comfortable. When all else fails, the natural look ever goes out of style. Also keep in mind that healthy skin comes first. If you’re removing your makeup at night, getting enough moisture inside and out, eating healthy, and getting enough sleep, you can’t go wrong.
