Flashback Friday

Friday, April 30th, 2010

This used to be my jam!! I love Busta and this is off one of my favorite albums E.L.E-The Final World Front.  Rapping for him is like an art.  The way he flows so smoothly over this beat is awesome. What a great video.  I remember it was one of the most expensive videos and I think it was worth it.  Busta back when he had dreads and Janet’s beautiful MAC makeup (remember going to the mall trying to get this look)! Good times. Close the door!

Spring/Summer 2010-Flats

Thursday, April 29th, 2010

Desktop13

When I first heard the word flats about 3 years ago, I thought of those old lady shoes that were super ugly.  That isn’t the case at all. Flats are in style year round, but I think they are a little cuter in the summer.  I guess you get to show them off more since you are wearing shorts, dresses, and capris.  There’s just so many different types of flats now.  You have closed toe, round toe, sling back, pointed toe, gladiator sandals, and the list just keeps going.

What I like about them is that you can wear them to work, lunch, or even to go out.  I love my heels, but sometimes I just want to be relaxed, but not look like a bum.  Some designers are making them with faces and bows.  My favorite pair that I have are black ones with silver zippers on top like a ribbon. They are hot, but they are also soo comfortable.  Sometimes I feel bad because it almost feels like I am walking around in bedroom shoes because of all the cushion! Oh boy.

I hope you have enjoyed my take on the different Spring and Summer trends of 2010.  I’m sure there are plenty more, but I kept it down to a 4 part series.  If you are reading this blog, you are already one step of the game because you are Dangerously Beautiful.  Remember that no matter what you decide to wear, as long as you have your Malicious But Delicious attitude, you have nothing to worry about.

Spring/Summer 2010-Neutrals

Shades like blush, tan, and taupe make me feel so feminine.  These colors give me an instant uplift to any day.  My favorite would be a nice nude.  Don’t you just feel sexy when have on flesh colored clothing?  I know I do.

A tan bag is a must have for everyone.  Because the color is so light, I like the bag to be simple like a medium sized hobo.  Details get lost to me on light bags.  But that’s just my opinion.  I’ve never owned a white purse (I just know that it would get super dirty), but they look good with gold accents.

White is so fresh and crisp. Just make sure to keep your whites bright!  No one likes a dull white.  I can only wear white for a short time period because I’m super clumsy and I usually end up with coffee or ink on me somewhere.  Nothing like a nice brown mystery spot on the the back of your white pants to ruin your day.

To make your neutral attire extra Dangerously Beautiful, add a nice plum, juicy lipgloss to your pout.  Can anyone say Malicious But Delicious?

Sping/Summer 2010-Modern Military

Tuesday, April 27th, 2010

Desktop11

Now something for the Bold females.  This is a super fun trend going on right now.  I like to call it the Modern Day Military Woman.  Stars like Beyonce and Rihanna are very fond of this one.  I wouldn’t go crazy stocking my closet full of these items, but some pieces are definitely essentials!!!

I’m a true believer that olive green is one of those colors that looks fab on any skin tone!  Play with khaki and brown and you are sure to stand out.  My only suggestion with wearing this color would be to make sure to accessorize with gold.  Dangling gold earrings or a long gold necklaces are a must with this color!

Bomber jackets and cut out booties take this style to the next level.  I live in Miami, so I can do without the jacket.  That means more to spend on the shoes! We don’t have budgets to compete with the stars, so I keep it simple.  I like to pair an army green tank top (a staple piece, invest in one if you don’t have one) with skinny jeans and a pair of kick ass shoes (like the army green booties above).  Complete the look with a cute belt and no one will be able to tell me that I’m not Dangerously Beautiful!

Spring/Summer 2010-Denim

Monday, April 26th, 2010

Desktop10

I have noticed some hot trends going on this year for Spring/Summer. I’m going to try and discuss them in a 4 part series. Let me know how you feel about the trends and if there are others that I may be leaving out.

First on the list, DENIM!!!  I know that jeans are always in style, but I have seen denim used more than just for jeans lately.  Being the shoe lover that I am, I’ve fallen in love with some cute denim sandals.  I’ve even worn them with other fabrics, because they’re just so versatile!  Quick suggestion, stick with a darker fabric because they match more.

I’ve always been a lover of dark denim jeans.  They can be dressed up easier and they are very forgiving if you know what I mean.  With that being said, I have to admit that I was a little hesitant to try on 80′s acid wash jeans. They’re back in style and I have to tell you that they look really good!  Just make sure to get a really nice stretchy, low rise pair to avoid looking like a Saved By The Bell reject.

The denim jacket has been revamped.  I love motorcycle jackets (don’t you think DB should do one?) and I have seen so many  in denim.  It’s such a nice touch to any outfit and super comfy!  You can’t possibly forget about your classic denim shorts.  Short shorts are always in (especially in Miami), but I’ve really started liking them a little longer.  Not knee length but about mid thigh.  Pair those with nice pumps and a sexy top (like the Lawless tee) and you are ready for any occasion!

Get some fun denim items this year. Maybe even a nice stapless denim dress.  Remember, just about anything matches denim, so play with the color spectrum!  Whatever you choose, make sure to include your Malicious But Delicious attitude and you will surely be Dangerously Beautiful!

Flashback Friday

Friday, April 23rd, 2010

I was watching A Different World the other night and I never realized just how good this episode is. I remember this was a 2 part episode and I couldn’t wait to see this part. They don’t make shows like this any more. The anticipation was at the highest and it was executed beautifully!  Diane Carroll with her “Die. Just Die.” made me really laugh. While Dwayne’s “Baby please, please.” gave me chill bumps and made me almost cry. Truly my favorite episode.  What’s yours?

Idol Gives Back

Thursday, April 22nd, 2010

Last night, American Idol had a 2 hour fundraiser to benefit charities around the world and across the United States. You all know that I am a huge Alicia Keys fan. She performed and she showed them how it’s done. Lately, she’d been wearing the most beautiful shoes!!! Just had to throw that in there!

Mary J. Blige was also in the building. I love her voice. Great job. I love it when artists do music different from what they normally do. (was that Randy on guitar!) Others came through, like the Black Eyed Peas, Joss Stone, and Idol alum Carrie Underwood. The performances were pretty good. I didn’t get to watch it live because I was too busy celebrating my birthday!! But these were my favorites. Check it out and let me know what you think.

Basic Instinct-Ciara

Tuesday, April 20th, 2010

Uh oh!  I’m kinda feeling this song.  I don’t think  it’s actually her rapping that I like but the lyrics. I love music that makes me nod my head and this song does that for me.  In the past Ciara was known for hits that made you think you could dance.  You know what I’m talking about, songs like 1,2 Step and Oh. (I’m sure I’m not the only one that thought they could get on top of a car and dance like that.)  She can definitely dance her ass off.  I guess she wanted to try something new and and did some modeling stuff.  She’s pretty, so I think she did that well.  I wouldn’t mind her for a DB photo shoot (that would actually be pretty cool), but I have to admit that I am looking forward to some of her dancing inspired hits.  You Got Me! How do you guys feel about the song?
