obama-state of the union-2010

Whomever you voted for, doesn’t matter at this time.  I just watched President Obama’s State of the Union Address.  I was working when he spoke last night (thanks for the invention of YouTube!), so that means that I got to hear a bunch of different opinions before I actually hear what The President really said.  I thought the speech was really good.  I won’t bore you with a bunch of quotes, but he did speak on some things that I feel needed to be discussed such as jobs, education affordability, and economic growth.  I hope that we can all come together and get back on the right track.

I”ll leave you all to your own opinions about change and whether or not he’s a good president.  But at the end of the day, we all have to acknowledge that we are Americans (for those of us that are) and that Barak Obama is the President of the United States.  I believe it is very important that we remember that “We don’t quit.”  The President has said “I don’t quit.”  So, “Let’s seize this moment to start anew, to carry the dream forward and to strengthen our union once more.”  Check out the speech if you missed it, it’s worth a listen.

You Haven’t Been Forgotten Michael

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

The video above is the newest video from the Philippines’ Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center.  About two years ago I watched a video of them doing Thriller and I was amazed.  These inmates have skills.  Michael himself would get a kick out of seeing this routine. The new video is even better.  If you haven’t had the chance to watch the thriller video, check it out below.  Let me know your thoughts.

Forget About Having A Bad Day

haiti-boy-rescued

Kiki was buried under rubble for almost 8 days in Haiti, but was all smiles when he was rescued.  His brother wasn’t so lucky.  Something to think about when you “think ” you are having a bad day.  Take time to enjoy the little things and find something to smile about today.

The Book of Eli

The-Book-of-Eli-funny

I had the pleasure of watching The Book of Eli this weekend.  I must say that I wasn’t disappointed.  Well it had my favorite actor Denzel Washington, so I was pretty sure that I wasn’t going to regret it!  I went to the movie not knowing anything about the story which I find is sometimes better than knowing what the movie is going to be about.  You don’t have any built up expectations.  Normally when I expect a movie to be awesome, it usually ends up being the complete opposite.

Well I am pretty bad about telling someone about a movie and not give away the entire thing, so I won’t go into great details.  The picture above is from my favorite part of the movie.  Pure comedy!  I didn’t think this movie would provide any comedy, but it surprised me.  Out of nowhere you will be laughing during this part.  I know that there are mixed reviews about the movie, but I found it entertaining.  Go check it out and let me know what you think!

Happy Birthday Dr. Martin Luther King Jr

Monday, January 18th, 2010

Martin Luther King

Today is a day to celebrate the birth and dream of Dr.  Martin Luther King Jr.  Today is about much more than parades and being off of work and school.  Its about taking time to reflect.  Look at all that can be done when someone has the vision and determination to make a change.  One person can truly make a difference.

It’s great to see everyone come together to help Haiti.  I don’t think race is even considered with all the devastation that has occurred.  I have seen people of all race, gender, and religion do whatever they can to help.  To think that this may be a completely different outcome if things hadn’t changed is scary.

I’m not going to pretend that racial issues don’t exist today, but there has been progress.  And to think it all began with a dream…

banner_shark-tank

With the DTV cross-over, I haven’t really watched much television but every now and again I can catch something good on the tube. Last night was one of those times. The show is called “Shark Tank” and its premise is that successful business professionals get to try their hand at the world of reality TV while sizing up the new ventures of passionate entrepreneurs.

For nearly the entirety of the show, I heard each “shark” say to each entrepreneur, “nice try, but not good enough. I’m out.” Then came the Grease Monkeys. They had things together more so than any other team but still heard a chorus of rejection. They were down to one last shark and that’s when the diva went to work. The MBA/Marketing background took them so far, but it took a little DB passion to get it done. Look at this face!

Malicious but Delicious. Work it, girl!
