DB in DB

Thursday, October 30th, 2008

This is Dauche Bates (DB).  She likes Dangerously Beautiful (DB).  Hence this posts’ title.  I really liked a post Dauche made on her blog earlier this month, and we’ve stayed in touch since then a la the Interweb.  The best thing about having a dope brand is connecting with people around the world who dig what you do.

Her favorite design is the Heartbreaker t-shirt (mine too), so from Miami to San Diego it went.  She said it made her day, and that in turn makes mine.

Other cool parts about branding are the details we get to  put in  that further define the Dangerously Beautiful ethos.  I’ve been meaning to show some of the stickers we printed this go-round, but Dauche beat me to it.

In the image below you can see a picture of our first set of hang-tags.  The hang-tag is a die-cut of our logo, the Bulletfly, which I’ve never mentioned on the blog before (odd).  The “cool” extra is that all of our products come with these hang-tags which are stickers, so more adventure for everyone.  More on the Bulletfly one of these days…

now that’s a default pic if I’ve ever seen one……..ohh la la

Cheeseballs

Monday, October 27th, 2008

This blog is usually about the world of the Dangerously Beautiful, and exploring the depths of what that name means. This post, however, is about me.

Cheeseballs. I like them. Over the years I have tamed my junk food consumption, but cheeseballs can get the business anytime. And like that…..they were gone. When I discovered these precious artificially flavored nuggets of excess sodium and fat were gone, I turned to my friend Google. Together we discovered that there were others around the world demanding an answer for the loss of cheeseballs.

Being that I’m in need of a diet more than…well, Cheeseballs, I did not pick up the torch of those forlorn Internet people forming e-petitions. I mourned silently. I won’t lie, popcorn often filled the role of my lost love (hence need for the diet). And like that…..they re-appeared! I have only found them in Blockbuster thus far (first good pick up from that store in a while), but surely this is a sign of more change we can believe in cheeseballs.

Dear DB Blog:

My Poor DB Blog.  You got used to all the attention I used to pour upon you.  But, you knew it was leading somewhere else.  You remember all those plans I told you about, all the dreams we shared…All those pictures from all around the world.  Well, its really happening now!!  Dangerously Beautiful launched after all that time, we’re in real live brick ‘n mortar stores, our online shop stays active, and now that DANGEROUSLY BEAUTIFUL IS ON KARMALOOP, the orders stay flowing through.

I know, we don’t get to spend the time together that we used to, those late nights of plotting, me being The Brain and you in your faithful Pinky role…And with all this in such a short time, rather than kick back with you on an island in a coffee house somewhere picking up hot chicks (deviant = male), now is the time to look forward.  Yes, DB Spring 09, Summer 09, and Fall 09 are all in the works!

The Dangerously Beautiful brand stands for a lot.  It stands for the bad *ssness that is women the world over.  You don’t want to keep that only to yourself, do you?  No, we’ve got to get the word out.  So, my faithful blog, know that you’re still on my mind, but I’m getting out our dreams!!!  Hopefully we’ll find someone to attend to you on a regular basis (any takers?).

FREE Jay-Z Concert…

Monday, October 6th, 2008

What more can I say?

In an effort to bribe motivate people to register to vote, Obama’s offices held a “Last Chance for Change” voter registration rally with Black Brad (Sr. Carter). Wyclef opened and held it down with a number of jams and Bob Marley covers. In the interim between acts, I ran into this guy (basically because he follows me).

Hov took to the stage and it was instantly on. More singles than album cuts, but can this man go back. The energy was crazy, I mean, real-live-energy on stage, proving that though the concert was outside, the Roc was in the building.

Classic.

The pictures can show that Miami turned out in full force. Video coming soon!

Jazmine Sullivan @ The Delano

Wednesday, October 1st, 2008

Last Thursday at the Florida Room in the Delano hotel on Miami Beach we were graced with a performance by Jazmine Sullivan. Her brief set was cool, but waiting through 2 hours of that TERRIBLE DJ…….I don’t know. Since when was beat matching a secondary necessity to DJing? Or better yet, if you can’t, why keep trying…for 2 hours?? Why FLAUNT that you cannot mix? And yes, I CAN do better… [/rant]

Anyway….Jazmine was on point. After a false start, her band lead her in well, and the harmonies with the back-up singers were heavenly. I was only familiar with her current single and material from a few years a go, so hearing stuff from her debut CD was a good taste of where this soulstress can go.
